Welcome to Mysterious Travels, a travel blog dedicated to the haunted, historic, mysterious, unusual, and occasionally unexplained places hiding around the world.

We’re Lady Twilight and the Midnight Detective, the husband-and-wife travelers behind Mysterious Travels.

Since 2013, we’ve traveled throughout the United States and across more than 20 countries, visiting everything from famous landmarks and historic cities to haunted hotels, centuries-old cemeteries, ghost towns, mysterious forests, and places associated with legends that are a little harder to explain.

Because while we love seeing the famous sights, we’ve always been far more interested in discovering the stories hiding behind them.

How Mysterious Travels Began

Our fascination with the paranormal started long before this website existed.

We both grew up interested in ghost stories, unexplained experiences, folklore, strange history, and the possibility that there might be more to this world than we understand.

Eventually, ghost tours became one of our favorite date-night activities. Then we started planning trips around haunted locations. We investigated supposedly haunted places ourselves. We sought out unusual attractions wherever we traveled.

We even got married at a haunted venue.

At some point, searching for the strange stopped being something we occasionally added to our vacations.

It became the way we traveled.

And that’s ultimately what inspired Mysterious Travels.

What Makes Our Travel Style Different?

There are thousands of travel websites that can tell you where to find the most famous attractions in a destination.

We’re interested in what happens after that.

Where’s the hotel guests swear is haunted?

What happened in that beautiful historic building 150 years ago?

Which local ghost story has been passed down for generations?

Where was that cryptid supposedly spotted?

Can you actually visit the abandoned town you’ve been reading about?

And where can you grab a great dinner after spending your afternoon wandering around a cemetery?

Those are the questions that shape Mysterious Travels.

We combine traditional travel planning with paranormal tourism, dark tourism, folklore, strange history, cryptids, legends, and unusual attractions to help travelers build trips that are a little different from everyone else’s.

Why Trust Mysterious Travels?

We’ve been traveling together for more than a decade and have visited destinations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia.

Along the way, we’ve stayed in haunted hotels, joined ghost tours, explored historic sites, visited cemeteries, investigated paranormal claims, searched for unusual attractions, and spent far too many hours researching legends and strange stories.

But you’ll also find researched destination guides for places we haven’t personally visited yet.

We believe there’s an important difference between personal experience and research, and we don’t want to pretend otherwise.

When we’ve personally visited somewhere, we’ll tell you about our experience. When we’re writing about a destination based on research, we’ll use reliable sources and available visitor information to help you decide whether it’s worth adding to your own trip.

Our goal isn’t to convince you that every ghost story, cryptid sighting, or paranormal legend is true.

We’re here to help you explore the places where those stories live.

Meet Lady Twilight & the Midnight Detective

Behind all the ghost stories and mysterious destinations are two travelers who simply enjoy discovering places with a good story.

Lady Twilight is the primary writer and researcher behind Mysterious Travels, with a particular fascination for haunted history, dark tourism, folklore, unusual destinations, and turning hours of research into practical travel guides.

The Midnight Detective is the other half of Mysterious Travels and her longtime partner in exploring haunted locations, investigating strange stories, and asking the extremely important question:

“But is it actually haunted?”

Together, we’re interested in approaching mysterious places with curiosity rather than certainty. Sometimes there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Sometimes there isn’t.

Either way, there’s usually a fascinating story.

Why We Blog

Planning an ordinary vacation is easy.

Finding the strange stuff can take considerably more digging.

Information about haunted locations, unusual attractions, paranormal tours, legends, and dark tourism destinations is often scattered across historical archives, tourism websites, local stories, old articles, and questionable corners of the internet.

Mysterious Travels exists to bring those pieces together.

We want to help you figure out what’s worth seeing, what’s actually accessible, what the story behind it is, and how to incorporate it into a real trip.

Because you shouldn’t have to choose between a practical travel guide and the weird rabbit hole that made you interested in the destination in the first place.
